Canberra Show Weekend

The weather was perfect for show day with only a light sprinkle of rain and a bit of cloud. The boys had a lovely time and watched the Hilux utes and Free style motor cross with eyes as wide as saucers. William went on his first roller coaster with a big-brother to sit next to, it wasn't quite so scary.

Jack got a Gag Magic show bag which he was given a budget "under $15" for and he didn't mind sticking to it. He even helped William choose and they were both very sure they didn't need a bag with lollies or chocolate.

William's favourite part of the weekend is swimming lessons. Jack glances over from the lane beside and notices how much William enjoys it which has helped Jack to enjoy his lesson too.

Anne needed some models so we had a nice time getting our faces painted. I'm thinking I need her for my next birthday party!

Dad's Home!

We had a big Saturday! Cricket was big and then we were off for a camping adventure at the cotter camp ground.

Just 30mins drive from home and the kids were ready for camping by the river. The grounds have fantastic facilities, under cover barbeques, toilets and showers.

The skateboard went up and down the hill about a hundred times and we enjoyed a bbq dinner.

After we toasted marshmallows on the fire, William and I left Jack with John and Jules to wait for Stu to arrive home.

One delay after the next meant he drove a hire car home from Sydney and didn't get in until almost 2am. Jack was thrilled to be picked up by Dad the next day and we were all spoilt with presents. Stu cooked a light and fresh flake steak and barley salad for dinner. We really missed his cooking!

Valentine's Day

The card reads, "I like it when you smile, but I love it when I'm the reason."

Almost 14 years later and my heart still skips when I get a message from this man.
It must be love.

Dear Stu,

Since you've been away we have been very busy. William is crazier than usual and getting into some mischief. We had a sleep over at Juliette's place and there were happy hour cocktails.

John bought warm chocolate croissants from the French Patisserie in Weston Creek and Jules made a Nespresso coffee. It was a great start to the day. We had an awesome cricket session and swimming lessons too.

(William in near left lane, Jack in near right lane)

Watching the sunset inspired some learning about the earth and the sun. Even William can find America on the globe now.

Jen and Eliza came over for dinner. Jen and I had a great night at Uncle Andrew's party and William thought it was awesome to have Eliza stay the night.

The cake turned out brilliantly. Wish you could have tried it!

Back to Work and School

We made the most of our last few days before returning to school and Stu leaving for US. It's always an exciting time to start the year, new friends, restored enthusiasm, energy and that peaceful feeling that comes with the routine of the working week.

We did the bridge to bridge bike ride and took a break at the castle park. We ate lunch at our new favourite, Sushi Bay and even had time for Uncle Andrew's birthday and a trip to the markets.

There were many happy reunions and new shoes at school this morning. There was a slightly uneasy feeling about saying goodbye to Dad for the next 2 weeks. We will definitely miss him. William said, 'There will be no one in your bed Mum!'
