Farewell 2012

We spent one of our last days this year with the Great Nan and Pop in Bemboka. It's a wonderful thing for Jack and William to spend a quiet day with great grandparents who love them so much. Nan is fit for her age and played ball with Jack for half an hour. William loved the chooks but was nervous about riding on the tractor. Nan cooked a roast chicken for dinner and the boys are at an easy age where they both enjoy watching a dvd in the car on the way there.

2012 started with a trip to Port Stevens and an angel incident. We had an awesome year and the boys continue to give us joy and energy we never imagined possible. I couldn't possibly love them any more. We went on our first camping trip at Wyangala dam, a snow trip and a mini break in Darling Harbour. We are so lucky to have such great friends, theme nights and dinners on the deck were a highlight. Bec and Geoff were married, baby Matthew and baby Arrabella were born. Jules turned 40 and Jack enjoyed his first year of school. I made some winning desserts while Stu started a fitness trend with a new bike. What a fantastic year. Here's to 2013 and we're off to Tasmania!

The Boys meet Arrabella

Jack and William both adore their new baby cousin. William particularly loves babies. He made sure to kiss his teddy goodnight after asking if we could wrap teddy because he was crying. Jack was taken by her tiny feet and clothes. There is nothing so amazing as a newborn baby.

Stu said 'babies are gross, they poo their pants.' I think he is definitely past the baby stage.

The Night before Christmas

It's been a busy time working right up until just a few days before Christmas but we've had a lot of fun. The boys loved the carols and Nanna's chicken and chips. William has been rehearsing 'Jingle Bells' for a few weeks now.

The presents look inviting under the tree and it's the first year (for some time) we've been able to leave them there unguarded without any babies, toddlers or kittens in the house.

We met some of our favourite people at Big Splash as Canberra temperatures rose over 30 again and the boys enjoyed a picnic lunch and the obligatory ice cream that comes with a day at the pool.

We visited the Salvation Army Christmas party and William spent a busy day with Sam.

It's only one more sleep until Christmas Day!

Christmas is coming

The Lego advent calendar has been exciting and every morning there's a new surprise. William loves to open the door and Jack builds the little figures.

Jack's school Christmas concert was just gorgeous and his report was a credit to him. His best subjects were maths, Indonesian and RE.

Gye and Maryanne had 'the most beautiful lights' by Jack's account and they do get brighter every year. Maryanne cooked an amazing feast (4 Courses) in the thermomix and the most delicious sticky date pudding I've ever eaten. Even superior to the boat house!

The Urban Family Xmas Party was a Greek theme and another feast. Jules and John hosted the event which went on even through the intermittent showers. There were at least 20 kids all running around in circles. It's certainly getting bigger, noisier and even more fun each year.

The boys had a very quick visit to Santa. We left it a little late this year and the line was long so the boys handed in their letters and Jack told Santa he wanted 'Sky Lander Giants.' William said he wanted 'A horsey ride, a pig and a giraffe.'

Jack's first tooth fell out on 12/12/12 and after seeing the photo The Tooth Fairy left he didn't want her to come again. William on the other hand is mesmerized by her picture and asked a dozen questions.'What sort of wings does the Fairy have?' 'What's her name?' 'When is the fairy coming to my bed?' etc etc.

Jamberoo

We had the most gorgeous weather for a Kiama mini break this weekend. It was sunny and warm but not too hot so the lines for the rides at Jamberoo were less than 15 minutes. Some kids were dressed in wet suits which we wished we had for the little boys when their lips turned blue.

We started out at Billabong Beach where the boys went up and down the water slides and after a chair lift and a bobsled ride we went back up the hill to slide down the 'Splash Out' slide which plunged William into the water.

We rode around the Rapid River (above) and then went to Outback bay (below) to recharge and warm up with hot chips.

The Taipan was the highlight of the day and we laughed and screamed as we went down the ride. The only thing stopping us from doing it again was the climb up the hill and the chance that we might be the one going backwards in the raft. It was the best fun I've had in years!

We stayed the night and visited the Blowhole. We ate deep fried Camembert and the boys were soaked in the surf.  We are so, totally doing this again!

Tree Day

We had an early start, driving out to Gundaroo to pick our tree before Dad had to go to work. It was a fun drive and the boys enjoyed picking out our very own tree.

Almost Three

I love this almost 3 year old and his wonky smile. We enjoyed an afternoon at the pool after school on Friday when the temperature hit 35C. Swimming lessons are paying off as both boys show confidence and skill in the water. Tacos at Jules' place and Gelato in Weston creek was to follow. On Tuesday the boys had paintings to show off. Daddy day care was having an artistic moment.
