School Holidays - Week 1

We have enjoyed every single second of our week at home. Kicking off with Simon coming over to install the new Kmart bike hooks. They are a fantastic storage solution for the bikes!

William's friends came over for a bike ride and it poured with rain. They thought it was the best fun ever.

Sam came over for 2 sleep overs and we did dinner and movies. Boss Baby was a very funny movie.

Jack and William learnt to make pancakes and 'eggs your way.'

Jule's made a nonna caterina pizza just like the one we tried in Melbourne just last week and it was superb.

We made honeycomb and went on an easter egg hunt at Yarralumla PlayStation. It was a well organised egg hunt with everyone getting an equal quantity of eggs at the end.

Jules held Mexican theme night and we made home made tortillas and chicken wings.

Nanna and the Aunties took ALL the cousins to the movies to see The Smurfs.

We enjoyed the NGA Versailles exhibit and the play area.

We had a special Easter Sunday lunch at Patisse and the boys each got a Poop emoji Freakshake.

Nanna and Pop came over and we made fresh pasta for all.

Nanna bought William some fantastic bed socks right when he needed them most.

It was quite amazing how quickly the boys got around the lake today. They enjoyed the sunshine and talked about Pokémon and other boy things the whole way. They have grown so much!

Sovereign Hill

William was very excited to step back in time at Sovereign Hill. He had been looking forward to panning for gold and going down the gold mine all week. He had a million questions before we got there and the expectations were certainly high. He had the best time!

We went down the mine and learnt about 19th century gold mining. The boys were amazed at the old technology use to drill the rock out of the mine.

William was very excited to find gold. We thought we did quite well to find almost a dozen little pieces.

There really was too much to see in just one day. We agreed we must go back and stay overnight next time. We took some interesting roads back to Albury and it made for an interesting drive home.

Tori was especially glad to have us back home!

Melbourne DAY 2

I thought we were very smart to pay $20 to park the car at the Rod Laver Arena and walk 15 minutes to the city. It was such an easy drive. We went up Eureka Tower to give the boys some perspective which was great fun. Jack has a good sense of direction and pointed out Tasmania. William was amazed at the tiny people below. He spotted lots of trams and immediately wanted to catch one.

So we jumped on the FREE city circle tram (after getting misled) and made our way to the Melbourne Museum.

The Melbourne Museum was the best Museum I've ever been to. We didn't have nearly enough time to see everything. Next time we will plan to spend a whole day there. We caught the tram back to Ginger Boy which was delicious.

Melbourne DAY 1

It's been a long time since we drove to Melbourne. About 15 years ago we think. The boys enjoyed the historical sites along the way. We stopped by the sushi train in Albury for lunch and met up with Jules and Sam.

When we arrived at The Clarion on Canterbury we jumped straight in the pool to stretch out. We walked just 10 minutes down the street to dinner at Amor Mexican. The kids meals were great value.

Puffing Billy was a great experience and the boys loved it.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped by the Yarra Glen Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery. I was surprised how busy it was. It was great to stock up ready for easter.

Jules and I went out to see the Dixie Chicks concert while Stu took the boys out to TGI Fridays. Day 1 - we couldn't have packed any more in.
